Lennon viewed ‘Strawberry Fields Forever’ as his finest work with the Beatles. After Lennon’s murder in New York City, a section of Central Park was named after the song.

Lennon wrote this song recalling the days when he played in the gardens of ‘Strawberry Fields’, a Salvation Army children’s home in Liverpool near ‘Penny Lane’ where he lived with his Aunt after the death of his parents. It was recorded in 1966 and released in 1967 as a double A side single alongside ‘Penny Lane’. The style I’ve painted this in relates to the period when the group were experimenting with hallucinogenic drugs and the music produced was quite psychedelic in its format.
