In a November 1968 interview for Radio Luxembourg, McCartney said the song was written from the point of view of a Russian spy returning home to the USSR after an extended mission in the USA. McCartney wrote the song when the Beatles were on a retreat in Rishikesh, India, studying meditation in the Spring of 1968. Present at the camp was a member of the ‘Beach Boys’ and the song is said to be a spoof of their bands ‘California Girls’. McCartney did eventually play the song in Russia when he played Moscows Red Square on the 24th May, 2003.

You should get awarded a badge or something like on Facebook for the most involvement in comment sections. But ye back to your work, its great 👍 have you done any other beatles pictures?

Thank you for your very kind comment Michael. Yes, I am a Beatles fan as their style of music still has an impact on music development now. If you look back in my work you’ll see that there are quite a few paintings based on the lyrics of the Beatles.
