The Snail that eats my Hosta plant! by Spencer Lambeth-Angell

Oh 😮 but it's a cute snail though 😁

Thanks Faye. I thought his colouring was lovely and his shell pattern a little different to others.

Like this story Spencer, good painting too!

I think these are strange alien creatures. I have several Hostas in pots, so far so good. I'm glad you said the anti-snail gizmos are no good, I was thinking of getting some. When I was a nipper I used to have snail races with my brothers, we'd stick a number on their shell, and hope they'd all go dashing (?) off in the same direction. I like your painting.

He's certainly coming out of his shell Spencer. Very original work.

Lovely work Spencer.

Naughty snail but such a lovely idea!

Thank you so much for your comments Katy, Heather, Lewis, Ronald, Denise and Thalia.

I don't like snails but he looks rather cute. I like it.

Lovely snail with beautiful structure, Spencer!

I think he is a lovely snail well painted

Very fresh painting. The snail will come back!

Thank you so much Anne and Val-Irene. I’m sure they have homing systems to find their way back to their favourite plants.

Very nicely painted Spencer. Nice detail too.

Never been keen on these little chaps, but I dislike their cousins more. Still, I tend to tolerate them and then drop them over the garden fence. My neighbours have a terrible snail and slug problem. Super portrayal of these insatiable little blighters. Bri

He looks a treat, shame he’s so greedy! He will be back Spencer 🤨

Thank you so much Carole. I know he will return! It might be time to give him a flying lesson!!

I can so identify with this! A super piece commemorating an epic battle!

Just seen this, it's a great snail Spencer! I use copper tape on my pots and have had a hosta for years which has escaped being eaten! And my garden is a very slug and snaily one!

Thank you so much Sarah. I also use the copper tape and sheeps wool pellets around the Hosta plants but they still manage to find a way.

Each year I do battle with the snails that love munching through my Hosta plant. My prize specimen is in a 1 metre tall planter with anti- snail objects on it and in it but still they climb to the top and munch! When I saw this one I took a photograph which i used as a starter for my painting. He was then removed to the top of the garden! Painted on A4 300gsm watercolour paper. Watercolour and watercolour crayons.
