Another beautiful picture in your series 🙂

A lovely depiction Spencer

Wow, Spencer - that is superb and fits in so well with your series!!

Thank you so much Heather, Coral and David. I have to say it very nearly ended up in the bin at times as I felt I kept needing to make changes to it.

This has a simple honesty about it which is captivating

Thank you so much for your great comments. Much appreciated!

Another hit for them and you Spencer.

Another good one for the series. (I saw a good movie about the Beetles recently. On the BBC iplayer...'Yesterday'...about a man who wakes up in a world where nobody has heard of the Beetles, but he remembers all their songs. Not a bad movie, and it reminded me just how good their songs are.)

Thank you so much for your lovely comments Russell and Lewis. I know the film you mean Lewis - its a good film just to remember some of the Beatles greatest hits.

Another good one Spencer.

This is beautiful Spencer. The figures are so well done and I find it moving.

Thank you so much David. I wanted to get the emotion of heartfelt prayer across.

A lovely back story to your equally lovely painting, Spencer. I like the texture around Mary.

Thank you so much Carol. I was unsure whether to use metallic rays around Mary but, in the end decided to create a mist around her to show she was a form of apparition. It didn’t work in watercolour so used gouache and a stencilling brush.

An intriguing interpretation, Spencer. Your paintings are always thought-provoking.

This is a lovely painting Spencer. You should definitely paint as you see.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments Seok and Fiona.

I love the composition and the textural effects youve achieved. Great picture.

Thank you so much Jonathan. I really wanted to create the textures of the bricks, window and clothing as initially a plain watercolour looked rather flat.

Continuing my Beatles theme is ‘Let it be’. The song begins, ‘When I find myself in times of trouble, Mother Mary comes to me. Speaking words of wisdom. Let it be.’ It is from these lyrics I developed the painting though McCartney said the song was not meant to be religious but people could take it that way. The lyrics came to him in a dream about his mother, Mary, who died of cancer when he was 14. The song was released in 1970 and was the final song before McCartney left the Beatles.
