Very well painted Hilary – and I like your portfolio. By the way: I wouldn't tear up and throw away paintings. Failed works help you a lot in your own development. Sometimes even cutouts from the "waste" result in pretty, small random works of art.

I went down to the river yesterday to take photos of the willows but this little character appeared, and followed me around quacking loudly, so I went home and had fun painting her - instead of the willows. ( I think she's a hybrid, not a mallard).

Many moons ago I completed an Art Foundation, and have attended art classes and workshops along the way, but basically I'm self-taught. I prefer to work in watercolour - I enjoy being expressive with colour and line, and experimenting with mixed media.
