Rydal Water by Helen Hanson
This image was my autumn selection for the seasonal series in "Landscape In Ink and Coloured Pencil". It was one of those utterly still autumn mornings, with a damp feel to the air but enough light to create a gleam on the water. I kept to a cool palette, contrasting with the foreground leaves and the fiery focal point. I tried to keep the surface as smooth as possible, using lots of blended layers and a final burnishing. Some ink outlining in the foreground gave definition and impact to the leaves.
