I don't think it is overworked at all, it has a lovely glow about it !

Well, I think it's turned out rather splendidly, you are too hard on yourself. I'd hang it on my wall any time. The capturing of light and soft and sharp focus is really good.

All painters find small faults with their work, we are all the same! I agree with the other peoples comments. It has has a lovely feeling of calmness, I especially like the boat illuminated by the sky.

Looks good to me William. Why does everyone seem to strive for a ‘looser feel?’ What s wrong with ‘tight and detailed’?

Regardless of your thoughts and aims, William, this is a splendid painting evoking a calm evening.

Beautiful work

Excellent, William!

Superb work, I think you have captured the low light particularly well , but I do understand your feeling of I’ve overdone it , honestly we don’t see it that way .

Very good watercolour William.

Beautifully painted

Thank you all for your wonderful comments and I’m very grateful, it looks better in the flesh but maybe it’s a bad photo as I do struggle with photos but don’t like to alter the settings as I can look false? Russell you are right as everyone has there own tastes and would be a boring world if we all liked the same but it was what I intended to do did not come to fruition and kept going back over it which can result in mud? But that’s my opinion and I take your point👍

I especially like the light on the boat and its positioning.

Watercolour on Arches not 16” x 20”. Did not quite turn out as I hoped, wanted a looser feel but this has gone to tight and overworked! It’s supposed to be evening with low sunlight but I have fiddled to much in my opinion.
