Glazing is a great technique to employ, fun to do if time-consuming. It has produced a lively and convincing image here.

Great - he looks really evil somehow. Know nothing about oils so can't comment on that.

Love the composition in this. Have just looked at your other gallery and clearly your method works brilliantly. Can't wait to see some more!

Lovely colours and composition. Very appealing.

great painting so realistic tree frogs are fabulous aren`t they well done

I love this! The 3d quality achieved by the leaf he is sitting on really gives it impact!

Thank you for the comments, it's very encouraging to get feedback on my work. Anyone know if the paintings we upload to this site are deleted after a while, as my other pictures seem to have disappeared except one?

All of mine are still here; am slightly puzzled by the way that some paintings stay on the gallery while others disappear into the painters' portfolios, but suspect they're doing this themselves to free up space. But perhaps someone who knows what they're talking about on technological questions will answer your point - and that someone isn't me..

Thank you Robert for your comment, but apart from not having logged on only recently, I know I haven't deleted my 6 paintings that I had in my portfolio, I assumed they had been on there too long, from last year. Perhaps I should try the forum?

This is wonderful. I love it!

20" x 18" Oil on canvas. Drawing of frog etc done with fixed pencil. Thinly painted in glazes with cad. yellow and then painted over with F. ultramarine in layers until the right density of colour was achieved. Other colours applied the same, in glazes. White areas painted thickly. I usually paint this way having been taught over 30 years ago, and it seems to work for me. I find it difficult to paint the direct method, returning to the way I know again and again.
