Thanks everyone for your lovely comments, sounds like you all love Casper as much as me! Robert, the colours I eventually settled on for the combat blanket were a mixture of orange, French ultramarine, and a touch of sap green.

I watched this develop in the Forum and at one point thought, 'No, a camouflage blanket will be too fussy and distract from the dog.' I was so wrong. Even the detailed cushions do not distract from the main subject. A really well balanced painting.
