I like the format you've chosen for this scene Fiona it suits it so well. Great reflections and I love the way you've depicted the vegetation in the water in the foreground. They could be two dragon flies on the right :)

This is fabulous Fiona. I love the format as it works beautifully with the larger foreground.

A stunner, love the long format. I see a Japanese influence, but whatever, it works just perfectly.

Thats beautiful Fiona. To paraphrase the Vapors. I think you're turning Japanese, I really think so.

I agree about the Japanese influence, Fiona. This is beautiful!

Nice work Fiona

The format works so well. I love the foreground and beautiful reflections. It’s a super painting Fiona

A great painting, Fiona, you must have been very relaxed painting it,love the reflections and the foreground.

Lovely work Fiona, full of light.

I couldn’t make my mind up about the format, glad I made this choice if you think it looks okay. I tried restraint, especially leaving the ink out lol. It wasn’t intentional to give it a Japanese look but now you’ve mentioned it, it has, especially the reedy bits at the bottom. Thank you all for your generous comments.

Beautiful, Fiona. I agree that the format works so well - gorgeous!

Wonderful watercolour, Fiona, I like also the size.

Beautiful expanse of sky and water, great format as already said, love the colours and the striking brushmarks in foreground. Really stunning Fiona!

It's all been said Fiona, will just add I think it's lovely.

Really skilful use of watercolour - beautiful!

This is so good Fiona. As well as the effective format, those colour washes under the cottage and reflections just make it for me!

My thanks once again for you kind comments....thank you.

Beautifully fresh and lovely, Fiona

Beautiful delicate watercolour Fiona.

Beautiful watercolour Fiona.

Excellent painting Fiona, your mark making is subtle and beautiful and you have really created a wonderful sense of light. I have struggled with Jackson’s rough but you have mastered it well.

This is lovely Fiona, the long format works well - and I also think it has a slightly Japanese style.

That’s just so beautiful Fiona! Stunning work. Well done you!

Absolutely beautiful Fiona, so atmospheric, I like this one very much.

My goodness, I’m bowled over with the response to this, thank you all very much for taking the time to comment. Barry, I struggled at first with the Jacksons rough and I have learnt you can’t touch it once you put your wash down. Otherwise it shows every mark and cauliflowers so easily. I’ve found the best way is to work quick and leave it. Saying all that I do like it for pen and wash work it gives a jumpy effect with ink.

So gorgeous Fiona! I love this, I hope you are going to frame it as it deserves to hang on the wall! I like the shape too!

Many thanks Pete and Margaret for your lovely comments, much appreciated. Probably won’t frame it Margaret, it will no doubt end up in the cupboard with the rest.

Thank you Dennis x

Well your work has certainly been capturing the comments again and it's a little while since I've been on here too but must put some work on again, it's good to see your work as fresh as always.. Great stuff

Thanks Alan! I wondered were you had got to, busy doing demo’s?

Beautiful and delicate, Fiona.

This painting reminds me of pond near a farm in eastern Ontario. In early fall the pond would have a mist covering it most mornings with the farm buildings showing faintly in the background - I almost feel I'm there once again! Beautifully done, Fiona.

Hi fiona I've been doing some demo's but I'm also frantically finishing some work before I get a hip replaced so getting my ship in order so to speak ready for the recovery period... At least then I get out and about en plein again with out the pain... 😩

Thanks again jennifer. Wib I’m pleased that this rekindled some, hopefully, happy memories for you. Thank you for your kind comments.

Good luck with the op Alan!

Hi fiona thanks for all your lovely comments it'll be early January I think, not looking forward to it, in some ways, but this pain has been around for years now so, hopefully it'll be good in the mid term. I'll have plenty of time to reflect on the direction my art should go, and practice my sketching I guess.. I'll miss orange though, but hoping on the satsuma types shortly after the op lol 👍

You’ll be fine Alan! Let me know how you get on, good luck. 👍

Oh Fiona only just found this. It is absolutely beautiful- you have really come up with a winner here.

20”x8” watercolour on Jackson’s rough. You may not believe me when I say there is no ink in this at all.......I know, miracle lol. I can’t honestly say I wasn’t tempted though.....I was!
