Lovely colours Fiona, the pen adds to it and brings them to life

Oh , these are really lovely Fiona. Great textures

Really like pen and watercolour studies, Fiona - this is lovely, great colours and lively composition.

These are lovely Which way around do you work Fiona...pen first or last ? Or like me work with both as I go along.

Thank you very much Michael, David, Diana, Jenny, Sylvia. Sylvia, same as yourself really, I do a rough hit and miss sketch of the subject first, then watercolour, then a bit more pen just to strengthen it up.....with a few flicks here and there of course.

Lovely pen and wash painting Fiona!

Love your random mark making - it brings it all to life Fiona.

Very effective and great colours

They look great Fiona, beautiful sketch...but what are they ? And what do you do with them (except paint them of course) ?

A very interesting subject Fiona, I always think of these fruits as having magical properties probably because I have associated them with medieval times. Anyway you have done them proud, beautifully presented in your pen amd watercolour style.

Lovely loose style Fiona

And before I turn in ( after a spot of babysitting) l'll add my praises to this composition Fiona. Lovely representation of Autumn.

Beautifully vibrant pen and wash Fiona

This is a rather splendid study Fiona, you do excel with this media, some great earthy colours also.

Hello Fiona! This is a super study and, as always, I love the energy and vibrancy you get into your penwork. Lovely.

I have only one word for this, Fiona: beau-ti-ful!!!!

Such a lovely variation in tones and colours in the fruit Fiona and lovely free pen work to bring it all together.

This is super Fiona. A real feast for the eyes.

Lovely little study Fiona!

Christine, Dennis, Linda and Janet.....thank you very much for your lovely comments.

Thank you Sharon...lol They are a fruit and they make an excellent jelly, although you have to wait for them to partly rot before you eat or cook them...it's called 'bletting'....I think. Thanks Carole, even if you don't use the fruit a Medlar tree is a most beautiful tree to have in your garden. They have a lovely knarled growing habit, gorgeous large white scented blooms in the spring and these very handsome fruits. Everyone should grow one! Lisa and Peter thank you very much.

You're turning in late Marjorie but thank you for looking and commenting before you did...lol Dermot and Alan, thank you gentlemen. Thea, Mia, Val....many thanks ladies for your lovely comments, much appreciated.

Margaret, Gudrun, Sarah, Satu.....ladies, thank you very much indeed!!!

A wonderful array of textures and colour, Fiona! You've created an 3D dimensionality where it feels like one could reach out and actually touch them.

Many thanks Wib!

Thanks for the update Fiona, something I had never heard of before. There is a saying in Dutch, which roughly translated is "as rotten as a Mispel" - I guess the Mispel is the Medlar, judging from your description.

Fabulous study, Fiona

That's okay Sharon. Many thanks Peter!

Found it at last, !! A superb piece of work, Fiona ! You make it look effortless!!

Lol....thank you Chandra!!!
