Justin Twigg

Biography

I studied art at school and then went to Leek Art School, where I met some fabulous people who taught me a lot, and the staff were pretty good too. I then took a degree in art at Manchester until 1987. Then I stopped altogether and switched direction to music, and then teaching design, both of which I have done for the last 20 plus years. In 2004 I took life classes for a couple of terms, where I developed a taste for working rapidly, and enjoying making marks. Then another break until I started to draw again a couple of years ago on holidays aiming to fill a sketchbook each holiday. I have now completed just short of 500 paintings since late September 2017, and you're having them all. I don't choose to be selective about what I put online as strangely enough people like them, maybe its pure bravado but after seeing many of the worlds finest paintings up close, I think I have something to offer, and I really thank you for all the comments you make about the work I post they are truly appreciated. No matter how much self-belief you have, it greatly helps to have things affirmed by the appreciation of such a talented bunch of artists as yourselves. I am now a member of the Society of Staffordshire Artists and featured twice briefly on the first episode of the Sky Landscape competition 2018 at Fountains Abbey as a wildcard, I would have gone this year too but the locations were too far away for a day trip I currently have work on display in Leeks Foxlowe Arts Centre with an exhibition in the gallery there next May, also work in the Fox and Crow gallery, Barewalls gallery in Burslem and the Old Mill Smokehouse. I was also overjoyed to have a painting feature as Editors choice in The Artist magazine in June this year.
