Terrific Fiona. Simple ans striking. Very effective.

Very nice Fiona, they sky is beautiful as are the reflections. Fabulous!

Very expressionistic - lovely

Thank you very much Jim, Margaret and Maureen.

I love that the mill and reeds are in the same dark tone, it's a brilliant idea given that the sky and the rest of the background look sunlit. It ought not to work...but it does. Great.

Great sky, nice painting. Know what you mean about no light. I can't get started at all so good luck!

That's lovely Fiona and congratulations on the prize inspired by Van Gogh bet you like him even more now. Are you using your prize

Lovely watercolour, Fiona, and one that really fills these dismal days with light. I love the bright sky and silhouettes and the delightfully suggested imagery throughout. Those trees look great and I like how you've hinted at their presence behind the reeds. A one to stand and admire. Brian PS I'm also itching to start a new oil. B

Lovely colours Fiona, I particularly like the way you painted the sky and love those reeds, I know what you mean about the light, it's really hard at times, not worked on anything today it's been so dark and we've had most of the time, hope to get some done tomorrow 😀

Energetic and I love that sky Fiona. terrible Light. Get a daylight lamp. Then you can paint 24 hours a day. By the way did you catch him??

I love this Fiona. Dynamic brush strokes. I really like the colours and washes in the sky. Great piece.

Thank you Lewis, appreciate your comment. Willie, thank you. Glad I’m not the only one finding it difficult with the light at the moment. I have a still life set up and to keep the continuity of light and shadows I’m choosing the same time frame every day to do about an hour on it. Thanks Dennis, yes I do! I haven’t received the prize yet but I will certainly be trying something as soon as it arrives.

Really like this Fiona. So sorry about your weather, best of success with the oil painting you're working on.

Brian thank you very much. You should be able to crack on with your oil over the weekend, it’s suppose to be brighter weather....allegedly. I’m going to finish mine come hell or high water.....it will need to be viewed with a head torch, I think....lol.

Thank you Linda, hope you manage to get your paints out tomorrow, it’s been a very dreary few days. Thanks John! No, he’s too quick for me! Lol. Your meaning went straight over my head, my husband had to explain.....lol😂 Derrrrr!

Many thanks Diana and Sandra for your lovely comments. Sandra, I don’t suppose you’re having a problem with light at the moment are you....lol

Love the contrast between darks and lights, Fiona, makes for a striking image.

Margaret and John......you’re not seeing double and I didn’t re-post.....seeing just the once is quite enough...lol. I’ve deleted it.

Lovely effects Fiona, love the sky and the dark reeds and mill.

Good watercolour Fiona, beautiful light and dark contrast.

Love the sky in this lively work Fiona.

I know this one well he had hung up in his studio for some time and it’s also the dust cover for his latest book. I like your version Fiona especially your sky painting it quickly seems to be the answer Steve often muses that his was done very quickly and just worked. Fingers crossed for good light.

Super work Fiona - and captures the scene so well.

Love the sky, the simplicity of it works so well.

Love this Fiona! Steve is one of my favourite artists

Beautifully painted Fiona well done

Lovely spontaneous pic Fiona with a great sky.

David, Cesare, Satu, Stephen many thanks for taking the time to comment. Thanks Barry, fancy being able to see this in the flesh....wonderful. I didn’t realise his second book was out, must look that up! Yes it was done very quickly, I don’t know any other way...lol. Hence struggling with this oil, I like to get them finished fairly quick. Many thanks Michael, Andre, Karen, Dennis, Brian, Gudrun, Michael for your comments, much appreciated.

I'm a big fan of Steve's and I can see the influence, Fiona. I really like this. Mind you, I enjoy everything you get up to.

Me too Pete, thanks for keeping an eye on what I get up to! Lol

16”x12” watercolour on Arches. Sort of after Steve Hall, the sky, right hand bank and left hand trees are different but the idea is from his 2017 calendar. I was transferring dates etc and liked the dark contrasts of the mill and bank. I’m in the middle of an oil at the moment and because of the terrible light it’s taking what feels like ages! This quickie was just what the doctor ordered.
