What a view you have Fiona, I can well understand your enjoyment at painting it! Beautiful!

Lovely painting, Fiona, very good limited palette and a bit of warmth on the snow. Charming

Gorgeous Fiona and as you travel into the painting you are delighted with the beautiful details. Superb

As Christine says, what a view! I love those washes on the twiggy shrubs beyond the gate. And no ellipses to worry about!

Really like this Fiona...love the subtle colours you use...

This has been added to the list of my favourites of yours Fiona. It's spectacular, from the distant fields and trees giving it depth, to the wall and gate standing out against those bushes, and the darker caligraphic tree in the corner. Love it.

Thank you Christine, yes I have some wonderful views surrounding where I live, I'm very lucky...and I should never want for inspiration, but I do sometimes. Thanks very much Pat, Dennis, Marjorie...not an ellipse in sight, I should stick to landscapes and safe myself the suffering!lol Many thanks Sylvia, much appreciated. Thank you Val, that's a lovely thing to say, I must admit I quite like this one ....and that doesn't happen very often. lol

As always Fiona lovely pen marks , love the gate and wall, the flow under the gate gives it a whole different dimension , for myself compared to some of your others which as you know I think are great, is as Val says got be one of the favourites, this one makes me feel I can go on a journey to the far distant trees on the horizon at the top of the hill, love it.

Well what more can I add that has not already been said Fiona, a truly lovely painting, you are an inspiration

love it very skillful Fiona love the placement of the tree and gate, textures, colours, atmosphere, marks everything!love it more please David Harrison

I agree with the other comments Fiona, one of your best Fiona. I felt that oainting my snow scene the other day through my patio door was like being outside but warm!

Beautiful scene and beautifully painted

Malcolm, David and David...thank you for your very kind comments. Sorry David (H), this will be THE one for this year I think!!lol

Thanks Stephen, it feels like cheating a little bit doesn't it, painting from the warm side of the window....I do it a lot in the winter!! Thank you very much Glennis X

I like the loose portrayal of this, Fiona, it is truly lovely, and oh Boy! What a view!

Another wonderful painting in your unmistakable style, Fiona. Lovely palette and brush strokes.

Lovely palette choice, Fiona. I love your pen work.

Beautiful, Fiona, this is one of my favourites of yours. It's a great composition with some lovely soft colours, especially like the way you've depicted the wall, gate and trees in the middle ground.

A most beautiful painting Fiona!!!

You've got so many interesting and pleasing scenes and you give them all such an imacculate work to view

Lovely scene, you have captured the water very well. Lovely!

I have already had a preview on this work, it is an excellent piece Fiona, it has all been said, the tree on the right is superb as is all of it really, very well done.

Thank you very much everyone for your lovely comments.

A lovely piece Fiona and you seem to be surrounded by fabulous subject matter

Another beautiful piece, Fiona. It's interesting to see how your style and presentation have developed over time.

Thank you Dermot, yes I should never have an excuse not to have anything to paint. Thanks Lionel! I didn't think I had a style as such....but I see what you mean, this is more detailed and controlled than I normally do, I did spend more time on this one. I had nine people in the house and I was running around doing refreshments etc in-between washes! Perhaps I paint better under stress...lol

This is delightful Fiona. I do love your colour palette.

Thank you Peter, you are very kind.

You seem to paint these scenes with such a light touch, as if the brush barely skims the paper. A really nice scene again painted beautifully Fiona. Very nice.

What a view Fiona! Lovely.

Andre, Sarah thank you both very much for your lovely comments.

Watercolour and pen 14" x 10" on Arches. U. marine, R. seinna, B. umber, R. umber and a touch of B. sienna. This gate seperates two fields which the Borrowmoss burn runs through in the field next to the paddock. It gets clogged up with branches and grass etc through the winter when the burn is in flood and causes the water to dam. Not good for the stability of the stone wall or the gate but makes a nice subject to paint, especially as it's been flooded more times that a little this winter! Painted from the patio window...from the inside, again lol!!
