Willows and Water

Willows and Water

Works really well. Lovely!

Love the spikey textures. Looks like you had sunshine too.

Love tha Fiona, smashing section of wall and movement in the willows. Like the way you have got the flow of the land in the foreground, nice one. (Again) :)))

Another lovely fresh watercolour, Fiona.

Something wrong with the perspective of those branches Fionw, must do better! However the choice of a simple subject, the colours and freedom in your hand makes this a standout piece

Very expressive Fiona, I also especially like the way you've depicted the wall and the movement of the willows.

A lovely balance as always Fiona

Yet another beauty Fiona -you really have developed such a distinctive style. (by the way did you send me an E-mail stating that you had changed your E-mail address? It landed in my Junk mail folder recently)

Nice pen and wash..good subject too.

another beauty Fiona those willow trees wow! love the contrast against the sky .you certainly have recovered from painters block I keep repeating myself but so few colours and you have achieved harmony also the rear trees on the left horizon line echo the willows, Harmony throughout! just noticed Derek's comments of course he's entitled to his views but I don't agree unsure what he is getting at the perspective as far as I'm concerned is perfect David Harrison

Lovely shaped willow branches in ink Fiona, they make a great pen and wash.

One of your light and fresh specials, Fiona. Lovely twigs and branches.

I'm very grateful for your kind and generous comments everyone and I really appreciate them. I knew you would spot that Derek....yes, I'm rubbish at perspectives but I don't worry about it, I'm hoping that particular gift will come with practice. Besides, not that I'm making any excuses for myself you understand, it isn't easy with a stick. Well, may be I'm using it as a little bit of an excuse...lol Carol, yes I did send you an email with a change of address. X

Wonderful complementary color palette. I love your variation in marks throughout the painting/sketch. You have marks with paint in the foreground, and shadows. What an interesting place this must be....

A really fresh painting,in your usual high standard. Really nice.

Your usual clean, crisp and recognisable style Fiona, some lovely line work on the willows.

Another lovely loose piece of work Fiona

I think David has missed the point Fiona but this a great study

Thank you very much Nancy, Andre, Alan, Dermot and Derek. I understand what you were referring to Derek, and I should think about each and every mark I make on the paper....but when my stick or pen starts skipping across the paper, I'm in another place!! Please continue to point out my weaknesses...one at a time though, or I won't be able to keep up...there are many!lol

I love your "stick" paintings Fiona, they are so full of life and atmosphere. Hope you were out painting in the sunshine today, it's been glorious here!

Thanks Val! No I didn't get chance today, it only started to brighten up mid-afternoon and I was out doing something else...unfortunately. WHEN you come down I'll take you to all my secret places!!lol Don't forget your paints.

Love the contrast of the still arid landscape and the lively directional movement of the willows. Beautifully done, Fiona!

14"x12" Pen & wash...Jackson's rough paper. Willows and water are a favourite combination of mine, and I'm lucky that there are plenty of opportunities to paint them around this area.
