Expressive and creative Fiona, Venice fits the bill nicely I think... well done.

Nice one, I really like the colours, all be it left over paint. Really expressive and a different avenue from the norm. Like it.

What a creative use of leftover paint Fiona - I like it!

Really creative piece Fiona, think it all works pretty well, like it and well done .

New and creative, Fiona.

Those reflections are brilliant.

Lol....thanks everyone, just a bit of fun!

Looks really good Fiona, caught my eye straight away for all the right reasons. Good title as well :)

Wowed Fiona! It's great! So creative and reflections and colours just right. Lovely to have a bit of fun and especially with this result.

Lovely abstract feel to this one Fiona and I like it well done again Fiona.

A good, spontaneous composition, Fiona; not contrived. And excellent reflections. The perspective gives it depth. Nice one!

Do you know, this really is good. The reflections etc and the composition just sets this apart somehow.

It's very vibrant and lively, Fiona. I do like the very energetic feel of the piece, as well as the lovely palette.

Love this atmospheric piece, Fiona.

Louise, Marjorie, Dennis.....thank you very much! It was quite liberating I must admit.

Many thanks Lionel, Gudrun, Seok, Shirley for your comments. It just started off as stripes of colour....and I've got a new rigger!!lol

Not as corrugated as mine - so there!
Did you use the backside Fiona? The reverse side if you see what I mean.
As usual your colours and tones are smashing and pen work added finishes it well.

Yes I did use the smoother side Derek, you can just make out some of the corrugated effect bottom left where I scraped the knife over it. I did give it good coat of gesso as well. It's a cracking idea of yours, I always have left over paint from my oil class.

With those colours it couldn't be anywhere else but Venice and the reflections in the water only emphasize this impression. A great use of left over paint Fiona.

Lol...thanks Satu and Val, very much!

Gorgeous, love the reflection and the calligraphic marks, the colours are beautiful Fiona!

Thanks very much Carole!

I visited Venice last year and your painting captures the excitement of drifting along the narrow waterway from one row of houses to another. Also love the deep reflections in the water.

That's very kind of your Janet....it was just a scribble really, I hate to waste paint so try and finD something to use it on! Many thanks.

18" x 16" oil on gessoed corrugated cardboard. Following Derek's example of trying out the corrugated cardboard as a support, I used up some left over oil paint. It isn't meant to look like anything or anywhere really, other than a few painted houses and a bit of water....could be anywhere at the moment with all the flooding. Sorry, I would have put a couple of boats shapes in but I can't do boats!lol Just a bit of fun.
