When I saw the sunshine again this morning, I was torn between another day in the garden or art. After reading Sylvia’s and David’s thread on the forum I’ve done both! Sketch first, then gardening to warm up. Thanks very much for your comments.

These rocks are great! Nice variety of tonal values and marks.

Clever stuff F, nice shadows and I assume those blobs were deliberate!

Thank you Ibolya, I thought when doing this sketch I really ought to do a more in depth piece, they have some lovely characterful cracks and lines. Thanks Alan, well some of the blobs were intentional, the rocks are stood in gravel so I thought it may represent that element, as I was short of time. But some blobs were caused by my shivering hand! Lol 😂 Sandra and Annick, thank you ladies.

Great coastal rocks ( I think ) and all in 10 mins. Must give it a go later this week.

I'm not sure whether to take up this challenge. Actually, it'll be dark soon so that's my excuse! Now, this is a really good 10 minute sketch and those splashes of paint seem to pull the whole thing together and add life to the solid, well painted rocks. Well done for braving the cold !!

After I had written it, I thought, what on earth did you do that for? Lol I enjoyed it.......eventually.

Thanks Andre. There is so much difference in the end results of sketching from life and sketching from photos or similar resources, in my work anyway. Did you find an excuse.......? Lol
