Windy Wigtown County Buildings Tower....monotype

I'm uncertain about the technique involved, Fiona. There's some fascinating shapes here, a lot of tubular shapes near the bottom of the building look really solid, almost three dimensional. I'm flummoxed, but interested...I look up 'monotypes' on the net.

Just looked up 'monotypes'. Fascinating stuff. Impressive.

Bold, eye catching and I like it as well Fiona!

Thank you Lewis, they are great fun to do and always a surprise when you lift off the paper. Thanks Georgina, not quite like a ‘Leon’. Thanks very much Louise.....not a bridgies in sight! Lol

What a cool method of producing an original piece. I think I'm looking at some revived gothic architecture here, if the pointed arches are anything to go by. As an abstract piece this is more than eye-catching. It makes the viewer think. Whenever I see public buildings I always think the artist is secretly tearing them down. *smirk* Fascinating stuff, Fiona. Really enjoyed engaging with your print. Brian

Great toning and depth Fiona.

Fantastic patterns Fiona which form an interesting and fascinating ensemble.

I think a hurricane is blowing Fiona😀 seriously, it reminds me of a type of church with a tower. Clever stuff.

Fascinating, Fiona. My local art shop is holding a printing workshop in April that includes monotype, I’m thinking of going.

I remember it from last year Fiona, it looked like it was falling down then lol, it doesn't look like it improved !!!, but seriously its a great drawing as always.

Clever and find interesting Fiona and like others must Look Up Monotype.

Thank you very much every one for your lovely response to this, it’s really a very nice building and it isn’t bent and twisted like this, that’s just the way I’ve done it. I was quite close to the building and looking up at the tower, which made it look distorted somehow. If you have the chance see if you can find in the POL archives, the piece that our own Alan Bickley wrote and demonstrated on monoprinting. It was he who inspired me to have a go at it, it’s great fun, if messy, try it if you get the chance.

I like this monotype technique very much Fiona. It really suits architectural subjects I think or at least this is proof of that. Turned out fantastic.

14”x12” printing ink on packing paper. I did a very hurried and scruffy charcoal sketch of this in the autumn last year.
