The Rookery....like smoke rising from the tree tops.

My word Fiona this is a beauty and so alive. Love it

Well this is rather good Fiona, lovely atmosphere and great gorse bushes for colour and contrast.

Love it , it has a feeling of mystery, and new begining with spring imminent, tells me a story. Brilliant.

You’re quick off the mark Carol! Thank you for you lovely comment, I enjoyed doing this one. Thanks Al, that means a lot.

David thank you for taking a look and commenting.

Love this Fiona - beautifully done with that wonderful pop of yellow whin at the front. As a child I lived across the road from a rookery - messy but love to see them!

Lovely splash of yellow against that mysterious background.

This is fantastic - love it.

What a delight - a really accomplished work Fiona.

Wow Fiona I love this. The vibrancy of the gorse brings it alive.

Striking in every sense, Fiona..Love the highlighted yellows against the dark background. Highly effective.

It's gorgeous Fiona, it's beautiful from top to bottom. A lovely softness, wonderful use of colour, the way you have delineated the trees and gorse and of course the rooks, so alive, the sky so beautiful.

My goodness Fiona. You have really drawn me into this scene.

We have spoken before Fiona about how hard oil pastel can be to use but in this you have made great use of it in combination with other media to make an outstanding piece of art work..

Beautiful colours, composition, everything.

This is lovely Fiona .

Another lovely painting from you Fiona

Love everything about this one, Fiona - atmosphere, colours (great yellow/black combination).

From childhood Fiona I’ve always said my favourite colour is yellow and the contrast with the moody greys here is excellent , very dramatic and a successful use of mixed media.

Oh this is gorgeous Fiona, bit like Kurt Jackson’s work which I really love.

Outstanding work Fiona.

Excellent and mysteriously atmospheric, Fiona!

Full of energy, movement and light. Love those vibrant splashes of yellow Fiona.

This is fabulous, Fiona. I love that yellow on the bushes.

Beautiful Fiona.

Another great atmospheric painting !

My goodness, thank you all so much for your generous comments and positive feedback. I’m really pleased you like it and if you have any tips or ideas how I can perhaps get more from mixed media, I would appreciate it.

Absolutely beautiful. Wonderful use of mixed media.

Thank you Jacqueline, very kind of you.

Wow Fiona - Energy and colour- really good!

16”x12” mixed media....acrylic, oil pastel, soft pastel and conte crayon on sugar paper/card. Would you believe this was two days ago! Even though the sky was heavy and grey, there are signs of the year moving on. The Rookery, for its din, the residents quarrelling over a stick, the beautiful buttercup yellow of the gorse (Whin) flowering in time for the early bumblebees, and the still flooded fields here and there.....just to remind us there is still time yet, for more of the wet stuff.
