I hope you use up the leftovers again soon, Fiona! This is very attractive and interesting. I love the gentle colours, very complementary and pleasing.

Your oils are improving all the time Fiona, this has a fresh and lively feel to it, well done. Hope Michael's bees don't get too close!

Charming painting, Fiona, fresh and lively and good limited palette

Always paint what you want, it turns out better that way, Lovely.

Fiona at her very best great application

Lovely colours Fiona! This makes a charming painting.

Hi Fiona I like it on reminded of walberswick and holidays lovely work.

Yes, I have to agree, a fabulous palette and really well painted, love the grasses on the bank.

So different Fiona and so good!

Thank you very much Anne, I hate wasting paint so try and find something to use it up on.
Never thought about Michael's Bees Stephen....perhaps that's why the nest are empty, they are out hunting, oh dear! Thank you for your comment.
Pat, Glennis, Dennis, Sarah thank you very much for your lovely comments, really appreciate it.
Glad it reminded you of happy times Dennis, thank you!
Thank you Alan, I think a little of your influence is at work in the grasses.
Thanks Louise, funny how a subject appeals, I think it was the colours that caught my eye. Thanks again.

Love this and love the subject, you know me Fiona, I like to go for the less obvious. Great pallet, I think the fencing is really well done and because it is split branch fencing it's nice and open and does not cut you off from the sky beyond, the banking colours are really good, smashing work, well done.

Thank you for your feedback Helen, you're very kind.

I know it's a bit unusual and I still can't put my finger on what attracted me to it; the colours....yes, but also, as you have pointed out the fence, that attracted me too....I don't know!lol Thank you for your lovely comment.

A very good painting Fiona, Lovely colours used, they blend perfectly :)

This is really good, Fiona - the strong horizontal lines contrast with the round bee holes - also super subtle colours.

Lovely, Fiona, great subject choice.

Well, it does have an indirect "bee" theme, so it's certainly worth painting, lol! Seriously, Fiona, you've made a simple scene look very arty and inviting. I love your vibrant treatment of the blades of grass and the irregular shapes created by the fence add the requisite tension to the painting. It's a super piece!

I'm with everyone else Fiona, it's eye catching. I love the colours.

An unusual subject but what a good painting it's made Fiona. Love the colours and the semi abstract feel to it with those grasses and your foreground marks.

Very effective sand bank Fiona.

Thank you all very much for your really generous comments. I very nearly didn't post it, just because of the subject.....I'm pleasantly surprised that you see something in it. Thanks again!

Lol Gudrun....they are after all the bees that have been posted on the site lately!

Really interesting lively piece , excellent

Thank you Dermot!

A small oil on board 12" x 10" ish. A strange subject I know and I don't know why I wanted to paint it, other than to use up the paint I had left from my last oil! It's a sand bank with Bee Eater nest holes....it was a quickie.
