Gimme the Moonlight….. by Fiona Phipps

Comments

I guessed this one was inspired by the harvest moon Fiona , I like the way your inks run into each other.

Unusual and I like the technique, certainly works for me.

I think it excellent Fiona , I love your loose paintings , this had superb colours and they have fussed and blended together beautifully.

It's worked beautifully Fiona.

Spontaneity springs to mind and another little gem Fiona.

The touches red and yellow seem to pull the picture together Fiona.

It’s worked really well Fiona

I remember your homemade inks Fiona! I really like your colour palette here, another lovely painting.

Beautiful splashes of colour- really like this Fiona-

I think it works really well Fiona

Great effects, I like it a lot.

Love those white areas.

Just noticed Fiona….there must be a woman, bottom right, lying in the moonlight, I can see her legs and the high heeled shoe!

This is certainly different Fiona and I admire the fluidity of this.

Love the looseness and freshness of the painting Fiona!

Well done Fiona.

Thanks ever so much everyone for your thumbs up on my mixed media mess…..glad you like it! Where Marjorie? No, don’t tell me, I won’t be able to un-see them if you tell me! 😳😂

And leave the rest to Fiona…. Love it.

Love it. ('Peely-wally??)

Another winner Fiona. Love your style.

Your other stuff has worked well, Fiona. Super work.

Beautiful colours Fiona and the white resist effect too.

No sign of denim blue! Whatever you’ve used it has covered it well… Parts of this are beyond good! I’m talking about the sky with blotted out moon, the distant foliage and the land mass, or could be water… it matters not! The trees are rather nicely drawn as well - but… what are those white blobs scattered everywhere?

Thank you very much Sylvia, Lewis (something, or someone that lacks colour, pale) Chris, Carole, Sarah, Alan…..much appreciated. Alan, I had wanted to achieve a simple and unfussy effect but the homemade inks just didn’t work on the blue, even after several washes. The blue in the distance is indigo watercolour and the trees are indigo and Indian red….it still looked dreary so added a bit of colour with oil pastel and Indian ink. The white blobs as you describe them, are my hit and miss style I suppose, I don’t do flat, even washes, unless that’s what I want……call them “space” darling. 😉

Lovely use of line and textured tones - very atmospheric Fiona.

Love the subtle colours and loose touch. Really atmospheric

Spencer, Shaun, Martin……thank you very much for leaving your generous comments.

12”x10” mixed media on Denim blue Two Rivers paper. I started this using the homemade inks I made last year but on the blue paper it looked a bit peely -wally , they just disappeared. Introduced other “stuff” to try and lift it, not sure it worked but it passed time. Inspired by the recent Harvest moon.
