Welcome back Fiona and a lovely new posting, you have caught the wintry atmosphere very well here. I like the misty background and the trees are nice and free.

Stunning watercolour Fiona, what a joy to have a watercolour pad that you can just open and show this gorgeous work, your colours are just so right in this and the rendering of those tree's is excellent, love how you have faded out the background details like the hedgerows, and the snowy trail in the foreground completes the scene, this is you at your best Fiona, let's see some more of these, you hinted at it with you last scene x

Never really get tired of seeing the white stuff, so long as it isn't lying on my garden path artfully waiting to send me back to Casualty again..... This is very appealing.

Really lovely pen and wash. You have obviously mastered this medium as all your pen and wash paintings have really appealed to me with their dynamic pen lines and lovely muted washes. I wish I could master the medium (if you don't believe me - take a look at my last posting - very dodgy indeed in my view) - finding the whole process very frustrating I have to say!

I see no rust anywhere! Welcome back. Thanks for posting such a good painting. Excellent use of "the white" stuff to depict the snow; lovely palette. As Robert says, very appealing. I'm standing right there.

Many, many thanks everyone for your kind and supportive comments, it's given me a real boost. I always feel awkward painting after a break. I think I will continue doing this kind of thing for a while and see how it goes. Thanks again folks, much appreciated. PS I've missed you all too!

Welcome back Fiona -goodness we've all missed you and this is a lovely picture too. Like Robert I never get sick of the white stuff as long as it is on paper and not the real stuff. Having got snowed in for three days last week -even down here in the south -we really don't need any more!! You certainly seem to have mastered pen & wash -something I've not tried yet.

Thank you very much Carol, you should try it. You can be as loose or as detailed as you like with pen & wash.

I agree with all the above Fiona, I don't think we have seen the last of the snow so it is still very topical and needless to say an excellent sketch. Welcome back.

Hi Fiona ! I have just got back from Spain. haven't done any painting, mainly being preoccupied with matters EU, (all residents must complete a Declaration of Worldwide Assets, and it is not easy!!). So glad that you have returned and with such a delightful watercolour. Superb trees plus distance between them. I do have one painting on the go but I am struggling. Hope to finish it tomorrow. Great to be in contact again. So many regulars seem to be missing! But now you're back.........!

Hi Gudrun....yes all is well thank you for asking, but alas I have given up a little, on the painting front that is. Since moving house in January I haven't stopped......many other projects to occupy my spare time at the momnent. I do feel guilty though and I know it's going to be a hard slog getting back into it once I do get the notion again. I've joined an art group which meets once a fortnight and I force myself to go so I'm at least doing something!! I haven't posted the last one I did as it's just the same old thing I do........trees and water, nothing different. Thanks again for your message and I hope I'll get back to doing something soon.

I thought it might be "having moved house" projects that was distracting you. Good that you are keeping things ticking over. I have embarked on an ambitious project, which, if I manage to pull it off, I shall tell! Oils the thing at the moment, although I feel a watercolour beckoning today maybe. It all depends on how much energy I have after a day with toddler! I managed to sketch out my next painting this morning before she woke up. Bye for now. Gudrun

How intriging, hope you pull it off.......can't wait to hear about it. You made me feel guilty this morning, so I grabbed my sketch book, looked out of the window and sketched the first tree that I could see!! It's rubbish but I've posted it anyway. Best wishes.
