Quick Boat Sketch

Quick Boat Sketch
Comments

This is a very lively sketch Fiona, I assumed it was from life, you have done well to get that 'on site' feeling working from a photo,

I don't think the is any danger of you getting rusty Fiona. This is a lovely drawing - I would be very pleased if I could produce sketchbook work like this. But then if I could be bothered to keep a sketch book .........

A quicky and a goody - it is often the quickies that turn out best

You have done so well getting inspiration from books and other artists. I am sure you would do equally well taking ideas from your collection of holiday photos.

A lovely drawing and beautifully coloured Fiona.

This works really well.Fresh and exciting.

A lively eyecatching sketch Fiona without a sign of rustiness, even on the boat :)

Thank you all very much, your comments are greatly appreciated.

Lovely dramatic painting. Super strong and bold darks which add emphasis in all the right places.

I like this very much Fiona -was getting worried as no postings from you for a while. The sky colours really appeal to me and as Stephan says it looks very much like an "on site" painting.

Lovely work. I especially like the boat and ropes.

Thank you very much Thea, Carol, Sarah for your support, much appreciated.

Thank you for your coment on my first posting. Your gallery is amazing, some very Edward Wesson styles - love it. Found a book in a charity shop called My Corner of the field which I understand may be quite valuable?

Thank you for your comments on my first posting. Your work is amazing, it has an Edward Wesson style about it whom I admire very much. I own a book called My corner of the field which I found in a charity shop and love it.

Thank you for your comments on my very first posting - a daunting thing to press that upload button for the first time! Your gallery is amazing and similar in style to Edward Wesson whose works I much admire. I found a book of his called My Corner of the Field in a charity shop which I constantly flick thru.

We all have lull times where we just can't sit down and be inspired. Worry not. Your skills won't dissipate. Sometimes a rest improves you as things consolidate. Wow, it must be early with all those words! I function best early in the morning. All brain matter stops wokring once toddler is up!

Lovely sketch - strong colours and a good subject.

Thank you very much Pat for your lovely comment..... is it that obvious that I'm a fan of Edward Wesson?! I have three of his books, including 'My corner of the field' and like you I constantly look through them, trying to study his style, then attempting to get a feel of it into my own paintings. Sometimes I think I manage it even just a little bit, but most of the time.......it's a no! Thanks again Pat and I look forward to seeing more of your paintings.

I'm sure you are right Gudrun, I'm a bit busy with oher things at the moment and feel guilty if I don't do even a quick sketch at least once a day! The fear is now I'm getting the hang of it a little bit......I don't want to lose it. Thank you very much for your support.

Glennis thank you very much, greatly appreciated.

A lovely sketch Fiona, as others have said, the colours are great,

Thank you very much David.

Fiona, this is really, really gorgeous! I love the feel of the old boat and the gentle sea air. There's so much spontaneity to this.

I really like that Fiona. Good choice of palette.

Thank you Seok and Paul for your support.

Pen & wash sketch. I've got a bit of an inspiration block at the moment, and don't want to get rusty, so this is just a quick sketch from a picture in a book. Thanks for looking.
