These are getting better and better Fiona, as Mia says, fresh, lively watercolour. There is somthing about painting on site isn't there? We react to the scene much more 'on the spot'.

Thank you Mia, your comment means a great deal. Stephen there is a lot of truth in what you say about being on the spot. It's the whole experience; I filled my water pot up from the water in the Loch and sat by the edge, with the water lapping at my feet. The sun was shinning and there wasn't a sound to be heard apart from the water. It was wonderful! Thank you for your comment Stephen.

I agree with all the above, lovely pen and wash sketch of a beautiful area. Wouldn't it be nice just to sit and paint outside in these tranquil settings more often, only wish our weather would allow or our hectic lifestyles, Well done Fiona.

Fiona, I agree with all that's been said. This is certainly the weather to be painting outside - do you have trouble with midges where you are? This is a lovely scene - what size is it?

Really lovely sketch Fiona

Hi Jane, not many midges at the moment, and because I only live 2 minutes from the beach there is nearly always a slight breeze. I believe midges only fly when the wind speed is below 3 miles per hour. Also they like tree's and the sheep have eaten all those!! The sketch book pages are 9" x 6" and if I want to do something larger I paint over two pages which works out to be 11" x 9"---ish. Thank you for your lovely comment.
