A taste of Autumn

A taste of Autumn

I do love it when people paint loosely in oil. It can be such a heavy and closed down medium that I struggle to like oil paintings generally, but when it produces paintings like this one I have no problem in loving them. The colours and feel of this painting is fluid and harmonious. Just enough detail to tell us what is going on but painted with restraint so as not to overdo anything. Super work, Fiona.

I'll agree with Thea yet again! I'm not sure that I'd recognise a Robin's Autumn song but you've conjured up a lovely autumnal atmosphere here! The colours are beautiful

Really super, Fiona! Love the colors and the atmosphere. The reflections are really well done.

Another nice painting Fionna, like the reflections and water and the general atmosphere you have created in this work as well as the composition, well done

Thank you very much Thea, Louise, Seok Yam.......I think most of the credit must go to Mr Wesson though, after all he did all the technical stuff. Thanks again for taking the time to comment, I appreciate it.

Thank you Graham you are very kind.

Fiona, it seems you've attained that looseness you are striving for - well done! This is a lovely painting and I agree with Graham's comments above.

When I first saw this I thought 'Seago' and then read your comments in which you refer to Wesson - well whoever - both fabulous artists - but it is distinctly you. What great picture to grace any wall - congrats.

Really makes me think of Autmn Fiona. I like the loose style you have used to capture the scene.

Thank you Jane, Paul, I think this is the loosest I've managed so far and I'm much happier with it. Hope I can keep it up. Michael, it's funny you should mention 'Seago' as I have just finished reading a book on him.....I wonder if some of the great man has rubbed off!!!???? Yeh right! I can but live in hope. Thanks again for your support.

I love your bright colours, Fiona. And by the temperatures we have over here, wind and rain, this is just the painting for it.

Love this one too.Very Seago. It's so loose for an oil.

Sorry Fiona .-- Not guilty. ---- It was Ann Cook that promised not to paint snow before October ---- Do not know how or why but I seem to have missed this one--- loose but full of atmosphere, perhaps your best,-- As I said before you are getting there. Well painted gel

Thank you very much Charles, it means a lot coming from yourself.

Louise Naimian used oil pastels in her last posting --- now theres a tip for you --. when oil paintings are dry they can be used to give a bit of texture--- works on acrylics too -- I used them on the forest floor in my oil painting - Autumn in Clumber

Fiona--- you can buy Daler-Rowney oil pastels in boxes 12-16-24--- I use the 24,good choice of colours---24 box about £10--Jacksons art supplies also sell singles 60p each---- Gallery oil pastels cheaper but I do not know what they are like.----Wrong painting I said Autumn in Clumber not Autumn in Clumber Park--Sorry -I did not know I had two postings with nearly the same name

Is it too early for a taste of Autumn? I heard a Robin singing his Autumn song in the garden today and wanted to do something in that season. Found this great painting by Edward Wesson and thought I would give it a go.
