A painting full of wonderful memories - very well done, Paul!!

Something so precious to have Paul. A lovely memory and painting.

Fantastic work 👏

I like it. This prompts memories. As a kid, apart from fish and chips, I hated fish. I’ve grown to like it now. My Dad liked jellied eels, they looked like an alien life form to me.

Reminds me of the fish man that use to come every Friday, Well done Paul.

What a great painting full of childhood memories (we always had smoked haddock for tea on a Saturday, fresh from Macfisheries!)

Very interesting artistic concept !

Thank you all for your very kind comments, I do appreciate them. Lew I’m with you on the jellied eels , didn’t fancy pigs trotter and certainly hated the look of tripe which my grandmother loved raw with salt and vinegar.

I can't say I enjoy eating sprats, but I love the way you've tackled the fish and the newspaper. Full of memories and very original.

A great memory beautifully depicted. Does anyone still eat doorstep chunks of bread? I’ve a memory of my dad bringing home freshly baked uncut bread. Lovely.

Nice one Paul! What are sprats exactly? Are they like anchovies or pilchards?

Thank you Bobbie, Christine , and Marjorie. Christine I bake my own bread regularly and live a thick chunk with butter and jam. Marjorie I don’t think they ate a particular type of fish just small fish bit like sardines, from what I recall , bought fresh to fry etc , think of them as large Whitebait .

Wonderful memories Paul. A lady from the Mumbles used to drive an old fish van around the area of Bristol where I lived as a child and I got to love Sprats, Winkles, Cockles, and jellied Eels. Haven't had Sprats for a long time but still occasionaly eat Cockles and jellied Eels.

Please it evoked some memories fore you George , how thing have changed since, nowadays it’s McD, kebab etc .

Interesting subject Paul, well done

Lovely illustrative piece Paul.

Love it, You have surprised and delighted me with this one !!
