A wonderful place to visit Paul and this is a lovely painting.

Been there many times, Paul and you have captured the spirit of the location so well!

Nicely detailed and good figures Paul of lovely Staiths.

I really like the splashes of colour in the figures contrasting with the buildings. Very atmospheric

I love this, the colours are beautiful.

Thank all for your very kind comments, I appreciate them. A bit of a busy scene and I don’t usually add figures it was the figure in the photo that originally inspired me, I thought I few more would still make it look on ok .

Lovely painting, the figures work well. Interesting to see this scene before modernisation.

I like the old scene Paul. The ladies doing their washing is a reminder of how lucky we are to have a modern option! A lovely painting of nostalgia.

A4 watercolour on Bockingford rough paper, inspired by a early 1900 mono photograph of a woman washing clothes in Staiths beck . Ona e added extra detail and figures , the scene before any modernisation tbd area behind the fisherman and boat I’d now a large retaining wall. I’ve shied away from painting a Staiths scenes as most artists interested in marine art have done excellent versions before me but this was old Staiths and I felt thst I need to paint it .
