Looks a very atmospheric place - I love the way you have done the stones and the sky is really good- successfully loose in my opinion!

Very good picture Paul, colours really good 😊

I agree wholeheartedly with Sarah! The sky looks as though it is just about to jettison its load, while the facets on that stone are beautifully weighted and delineated.

Nice drawing work in the stones, Paul reaching to a lovely sky.

Sarah, Stephen, Jo and Willie thank you for your kind comments I appreciate them.

I love the textures and the colours in this.

Nicely done Paul, the sky and stones are perfect.

Nicely done Paul.

That is very successful, Paul!!

Lynda, Andrew, Denise and David thank your for your comment I appreciate them particularly on a painting like this that I’m unsure of. I find painting loose at odd with my view of my paintings I love to see others but always think mine are unfinished, probably because I normally add dealing it’s a struggle to stop at what I think is enough.

Thank you Sylvia we were posting at the same time .

Very well painted once again Paul. This is plenty loose enough. Great washes and perfectly placed marks.

Very good.

You have made your stones look convincingly big and heavy Dixie. Good one!

The stone is effectively done, and the sky is lovely.

Love the way you have painted the stone, very nice

Thanks to all of you for your comments, I appreciate everyone.

Thank you Martin I appreciate your comment

This is really good Paul. The stones are so effective as is the sky!

Thanks Spencer I appreciate your comment.

A4 in A3 mount watercolour, I’m hopeless at loose painting ax I fiddle around and end up adding more detail despite attempting them over the years . I was inspired by the standing stone paintings done by Gillian Cooke and decided to have a go . I went for watercolour ax thetas my medium of choice and the stones in Yorkshire my home county , having sen any standing stones in Buckinghamshire where I live. The stones were not erected by man but left standing after the ice ages , basically the harder bits .
