Wow -that is very well painted!!

It does what it says on the tin Paul! Terrific painting.

This is fantastic Paul. Love that rust which is so tangible.

Beautifully rusty!

Nicely done Paul.

You have certainly captured the rust, Paul - a sad sight but beautifully painted!

Great to see the final piece. Well done 👏

Thank you all for your kind and much appreciated comments.

The rust is great, as is the painting !

It's a great result Paul.

Well done Paul good to see this end result, Your depiction of the rust is spot on. Isn't it sad to see a fine boat finish up like this.

Super work on the rust Paul. You get a sense of the flaking layers and pitted surface.

Valerie, Denise ,George and Fiona thank your for your positive comments. It has lost a bit of clarity and the colours are a bit more subdued , think the mix of colour is confusing the camera colour recognition system.

Very well painted Paul - that rust is perfect!

Poor old tub - there's a former ferry on the Isle of Wight (the Ryde Queen) which has been a ferry and a floating night-club, now just left to rot: there's not all that much of it left now, but

Whoops, hit the wrong key - as I was saying, but I bet you'd love to paint it. You'll just have to drag yourself all the way down here to see it.

And so you should be happy with the result here. I'd say this is definitely one of your best yet, and you certainly got the rust texture which I didn't think possible in watercolour.

Sarah, Robert and Sandra thank you for your comments. As it’s lost some clarity the rust texture isn’t standing out as much on the photo, it looks a lot more textured in the painting Sandra. I know of the old ferry you mentioned Robert , I did a painting of it a very long time ago another sad story.

Lovely work Paul. Have you tried a light sandpaper on the dried paint? You can get some quite interesting textures if you are confident about the paper you are using.

Andrew that something I’ve no heard of before, must give it a try on and old painting as an experiment, thanks for the tip .

A right rust bucket which you've painted so well Paul.

Thank you Val I appreciate your comment.

Really well painted Paul, and one of my favourite subjects to paint too

Thanks Trevor, I have notice your boat painting , always well drawn and set in good scenery.

A4 watercolour of a Clyde Puffer that was left to rot away , the history behind this is on the forum along with the stages of painting the scene . Had some difficulty getting the texture of the rust , quite difficult with watercolour but I’m happy with the results..
