As always Paul, your nautical paintings are good, keep plugging away ! Hoping you will soon be better.

Good one Paul

Many thanks Richard and Heather for your kind comments.

Nice one Paul. Get better soon.

A lovely painting in every aspect Paul. The rigging looks excellent. Wish I could get that detail and exactness when I try to draw straight lines into a painting! Hope you will feel a lot better soon.

As always, very good, Paul!!

It's a smashing painting Paul.

Nice boat Paul and hope your feeling better soon 🙂

Nice one Dixie .

Rikke, Spencer, David Carole, Denise Faye and Sylvia thank you for your very kind comments and wishes. I am feeling quite well , the splint seems to be working anyway just paint and get on with it , everyone’s kindness does the world of good.

Good job, we are always harsh on ourselves.

Thank you Romila, we are often our own worst critics , but better that than be so full of ourselves.

Lovely calm painting

Doesn't matter how you got there, it looks good to me! I admire your patience and accuracy Paul.

That looks like too many lines to do freehand, Paul. Good job!

Super work Paul - nothing wrong with pencil and ruler o- there are no rules in art.

Thank you Michael, I do try to do them freehand normally but sometimes it just a bit difficult. Oh it’s seems many years ago I was give a bit of a ear bending because by a marine artist because I used a rule . I also believe there are not rules just people who like to point out so call imperfect ways of working .

Great work Dixie. Plenty of detail as far as I can see.

Thank you Michael fir your kind comment its really appreciated.

Good work, Paul with a nice evening sky too and the rigging is very effective - don't worry about using a ruler ! Glad you're feeling a bit better!

Very good Paul

Looks good to me Dixie! Hope the hands are soon improved.

Anne ,Alan , Tessa and Neil thank you for you kind comments and taking the time to look at my painting.

A lovely picture Dixie. I have been known to use a ruler; and masking tape; and masking fluid. The rigging adds greatly to the painting:-)

Well done Paul, the rigging looks superb.

Christine thank you for taking the time to look and comment it’s really appreciated.

Looks good to me Paul, i feel rules are there for guidance, it's how we interpret them. I use what ever I can to achieve a painting. At the end of the day if you are happy with it........thats fine

Thank you David , I tend to do the same and as you say if your happy with it then it’s ok.

Lovely painting as always Paul! I see from comments that your hands are troublesome at the moment hope this is a temporary blip!

Thanks Gillian for your kind comment. I have ongoing issues with arthritic hands but this is something different at the moment, I hope it clearing as my hands feel a lot less painful.

Another lovely boat painting Paul.

Thank you David for you kind comment.

I admire the shape of your boat - never easy to draw. Nice one.

24x32cm watercolour imaginary scene of a Thames barge anchored for the night. Enjoyed painting this but a bit dissatisfied thst I can’t get the detailing I would like at the moment. I had to resort to a pencil and rule for the rigging , I would normally paint it free hand with a rigger brush. Still better to produce something is my feeling. Maybe this is the time for practice and do more loose work .

I have sketched most of my life on and off I became interested in watercolour following a spinal injury whilst in hospital but did not follow it up. My eldest daughter bought me a beautiful wooden box set of half pans about twenty five years ago I dabbled on and off until retirement twelve years…
