Thank you all for those appreciative comments. I've learned a lot from the Suffolk artist, Andrew Pitt, and one of his maxims is to disregard mistakes until you can see their impact on the final picture. Recommend his website to all!

This one nearly went in the bin after the sky wash. I painted upside down to get a graduated sky, darker at the roofline and lighter higher up, but I was impatient and turned it right way up too soon, creating a huge cauliflower. As this developed, however, I persevered with the rest of the picture and it ended up looking more like distant hills or clouds. A happy accident, that's what watercolour's all about.
