Lovely painting David and great colours.

Thank you both for your kind comments. Much as I admire many artists' demonstrations, I still feel Mother Nature is the one to learn from.

lovely painting David,

This is great - wonderful colouring

Good composition that captures the atmosphere of the location and draws you into the landscape. Really enjoyed viewing this painting.

Thank you all for those compliments. The colouring, Maureen, is down to a limited palette - cobalt, burnt sienna, raw sienna & green gold. Much easier to handle outdoors, I vary the colours simply by adding bits of one of the other colours to the mix I'm using.

I only discovered your work the other day, David. This is my favourite up to now. I see the influence of Fletcher-Watson very clearly here. The sparkle in the foreground is lovely. I like the irregular fence, the contrasting next field and the dark trees which lead the eye through the gap and up to Lyme Cage. I wish my Mum could have seen these paintings: Prince Wood and the canal up near the Boar's Head; it's where she spent her childhood and she did this walk many a time. Thank you for sharing these images.

Painted in the same field as "August Shadows" but a week later. The good news - it's not raining; the bad news - it's cloudy bright, no shadows to lift the picture.
