Lovely, makes you want to walk and follow the waymarker.

The great outdoors, you've tempted me to walk this way, if only I knew which way it was David.

Thank you, Heather, that was the effect I hoped for. Brian, it's just wishful thinking, the original sketch was made in the untidy corner of a field next to woodland, but I felt the need to see wide open spaces !

Well painted, love the colouring.

Makes you want to explore, and in that sense also reflects the fact that we're so shut in just now... you've achieved great warmth in this watercolour: and I really want to get through that gate!

Wonderful light! I am missing my walks so much! I want to go there..

Simple composition making a very beautiful picture of calmer times.

Thank you all for those appreciative comments. I hadn't realised I was painting an allegory but it's true I painted it in a mood of wishing and hoping (that was nearly the title).

Love this painting, captures that rural vibe and the hills in the background are great.

Thank you, Pamela and Dorothea, glad you like it. The heathery hills were painted with very wet washes of grey-green and purple mixes, applied randomly with a medium squirrel mop, wet-against- wet.
