Wow - this is much, much better than version one. You have clearly decided what is important and played that up and quietened down the rest. The pale path with just a little tone on it in the centre of the painting leads the viewer in and lets the painting breathe. There are a couple of very nice escapes on the sides of the house. Love the fact that you have started with definite colour at the top of the roof and then faded things away as you come down the building. This is a really successful painting.

I love this. I really lie your loose style of work David. I wish i could be more like this!

Thanks for the positive comments Thea & Wenda, I really do appreciate them. I'm still not to happy with that hedgw though, the vertical coincides with the vertical of the building and I think maybe I should have made it warmer in tone, there may yet be a version 3 ! Thanks again - David.

Not sure about your reservations about the hedge. I see what you are saying about the vertical line, but your building wall is a warm shade and the hedge a cool green blue, which is ok in my book. I tried putting my finger over the edge of the hedge and cutting out the cool blue green and the painting, in my opinion, lost something. I personally would be happy with it as it is, but you may surprise us all with version 3!

Another attempt at The Butcher's Arms. Tried to be more restrained this time. I'm not happy with the high hedge on the right, on reflection I think I should have left it out.
