Love your style David!

Very nice watercolour. Can I ask if I detect a Judi Whitton influence - perhaps you have been on one of her courses that she runs in the Cotswolds? I love your freedom and the colours you have used. Well done.

Thea, Yes, very much influenced by Judi Whitton, who I'm sure was influenced by Charles Reid. I attented a one of Judi's workshops at the NEC last year and would really like to do a full course, but time and expense prevent that at the moment. Thanks for the comments by the way. You may have guessed I'm new to this gallery thing and still finding my way round, I'm interested in finding your gallery as it seems we may both be influenced by the same styles. Thanks again - David

Thank you for your comment on my still life and gallery. I have been on two Judi Whitton courses and she was my earlier influence - although when I say earlier this is still fairly recent as I only started painting 3 years ago. Judi Whitton was definitely influenced and studied under Charles Reid. However, having discovered Charles Reid I believe he is the master of watercolour. So far I have all his 8 books and four of his DVD's. I have learned so much from these about paint handling, composition, local colour, tone, etc and although I don't paint exactly like him as my style is more defined and less free, he is definitely my inspiration. I have the opportunity to go on one of his courses in 2011, so that should be good if I manage to get a place. I can see from your work that you like this free-er and more colourful style and would urge you to get the lastest Charles Reid DVD Watercolour Masterclass from Townhouse Films and then stand back and enjoy! It's magic.
