A5 acrylic from the sketch pad. I attempted to practice blending a bit more (background, shadow of hand on leg) and I painted a fair amount straight in without preparatory pencil-work. I find it hard to make fine graduations in dark/light value a tiny amount of black and I am too dark and often when paint moves from palette to canvas I realise it is the wrong shade. Still this was good practice and really made me look hard.

Inspired by an artist friend I came back to paint a bit at the end of 2017. At the moment I am enjoying it and maybe because I have the patience to look more than I once did I am finding it easier and more enjoyable to actually produce a likeness.
