I see what you mean about the eye but the rest of her is painted well. I think we all get fed up with a project when we can't get it right, I usually end up throwing it in the bin so well done for showing it to us.

Her right eye (left looking at the painting) looks great and she is deep in thought, be good if you could match it with the other eye David. A good painting.

We can all find faults and be dissatisfied with our work if we're honest David. . Either eye would have made a great face, they just don't match each other but that could easily be corrected. A fine piece of work.

Perhaps you will revisit this sometime, David. It's worth it. Eyes are a pain, I usually get them in first before I get to far into a picture...probably not the right way to do it. Hands are another pain, and you've done those really well.

You musn't be frightened to change it. Take a deep breath, decide which eye you're going to change, paint it out so you can start it again. If you try to alter it you'll be more frustrated. Go on, you've got nothing to lose, you could finish off a good painting here.

OK, well I will let it sit for a while and have a go at it at a later stage. Maybe it isn't beyond redemption.

I got tired of this one, after multiple efforts I can't get the eyes right, she looks cross eyes or the eyes look squiffy etc etc so I am just going to let it be... I had intended to paint in the chez-longue she is leaning on but onwards and upwards...

About the Artist
D Hillman

Inspired by an artist friend I came back to paint a bit at the end of 2017. At the moment I am enjoying it and maybe because I have the patience to look more than I once did I am finding it easier and more enjoyable to actually produce a likeness.
