I altered the sky to bring atmoshere into the painting. Often scenes are not perfect and require some adjustment. I use Maimeri Blu and Winsor Newton Professional Watercolours. Sky: Raw Sienna first here and there, then Cobalt Blue, followed by the clouds/approaching rain, CB + Brown Madder. French Ultra, Light Red and Lemon Yellow where the other colours mainly used Telephone box....Cad Red and the door of the cottage Viridian green.

Sorry not a very good photo reproduction today

Your adaptations work really well and the sense of light is excellent

Really interesting to read the information about your technique and colour choice David and the resulting sensitive painting.

A beautiful painting David, and thanks for the narrative and information it contains.

Great job David. I love the sense of light.

Splendid watercolour love the washes in this.

Beautiful, mist, effects and subtle washes of a delightful scene David.

Lovely work once again, I like how the clouds point towards the cottage.

Thank you everyone for your very kind comments, yes Stephen you are right, quite a bit of planning went into this one.

You make it sound and look so easy but I know it isn’t, it takes knowledge and skill…..which you have in abundance David. A real beauty.

ah thanks so much Fiona, i wish my photo had shown it off properly, it is much more vibrant.

Thank you for detailing colours used. Makes it that much more interesting. Love the soft feel of the scene.

. Watercolour 12" x 16" on NOT Arches paper. This cottage is not far from Princetown and a favourite area we walk in, as it is so wild. We passed the cottage two weeks ago, so stopped the car and took a quick photo as the scene grabbed us both with the sun lighting up the cottage and telephone box. I have kept the sky simple to throw all the detail onto the centre of interest; the cottage and telephone box.
