Lovely painting David, great colours, and great figurework, good idea concentrating the detail on their upper bodies and blurring the surroundings

I love this painting/ It's fantastic if it is just a sketch. It is very accomplished for a 'sketch'. I love the pallette. Do you use a lot of white to get your pastel shades? What colours do you use for your paitings? The subject is inspirational. I would never have thought of painting such a scene. Beautiful composition, great figures, I just love everything about it. Just looked through your portfolio. Like your paintings a lot David, Jx

This is great and the spontaneity of it shines through. It's a great subject and a great painting.

Thanks Jean for your kind comments. I never know whether these type of real life contemporary subjects have the appeal of picturesque landscapes or seascapes so it is helpful to get some feedback. I often use just ultramarine blue, permanent rose, cadmium yellow light, cadmium orange and titanium white. With these few colours you can mix any other colour and it is difficult to get mud.

Very expressive and great fun!

A little 8 x 10 inch oil study of a couple of girls hunting through the endless racks of garments with the interruption of the inevitable call on the mobile. Not my usual choice of subject but I enjoy doing these studies of contemporary life from time to time. It was painted in about one hour.
