I've been visiting Weymouth for over 40 years and this view has barely changed over all that time. The people of Weymouth made their town look beautiful for the Olympics sailing last year and one evening later that year I was once more inspired by this harbour scene. I've sketched this scene from many angles before. This is looking seaward from the west side just below the old bridge. Since the light was going fast there was no time for sketching. I took several photos and later did this 10 x 12 inch oil on canvas board mostly from memory although the photos were useful as well.
