Cedar Grove Greece
A painting that has gone through many incarnations. I had a lot of trouble with the foreground and realised I was being a. too picky and b. not bold enough. Originally I had a scrub/olive tree combo. which did not work. I put the painting on one side and looked at it now and again for months. Looking through some old photos I realised that what remained in my mind was not the olive trees but cedars. The painting is a composite of memories of Greece; hilltop villages, clear warm skies, and the smell of hot cedar trees. Acrylic on hardboard. 30 x 30 cms.
