Lovely portrait and I particularly like the three different views of the dog as I think it gives added interest and explanation about the dog's character and personality. I shall be interested to see the child's portrait with the big brush.

Great portrait Catherine, I love the composition.

Excellent work - interesting that a change of brush has revitalized your work (mind you, I think you could paint great pictures with a yardbrush, frankly!). Great dog you've caught here.

Great composition and a lovely portrait Catherine

Thanks for your comments. It's difficult to see the paint up close in this image but I think the bigger brush reduces over working and allows the pigment to pool and flow much more. For me, this led to a much fresher representation.

Lovely portraits - no less than this spectacular breed deserves.

Beautiful watercolour triptych of this Ridgeback Catherine, super expressive eyes, the three poses shown superbly here, great palette and light and shade, everything that needs to be here is

A stunning piece. You've captured so much personality in the eyes, and your washes are beautiful.

Jess the Rhodesian Ridgeback posed beautifully for this tryptich. I'm starting to experiment with larger, blunt/square ended brushes for looser watercolours and finding it is refreshing my brush strokes. Now attempting a child portrait with an even larger Cotman 25mm wash brush and loving it!!
