A gorgeous painting of a lovely girl. You've captured her expression beautifully.

The expression in the eyes is so well caught, love the colours and the background sets the dog off - beautiful as is your portrait of Imogen, they both have that extra "something"

Brilliant!! This is so difficult to do in the unforgiving medium of watercolour. I love it.

Wonderful painting, you are so good with watercolour and dogs too! I love the way the collar is lost in the hair with soft and hard edges.

So you can capture the character of animals as well , great painting.

Thanks very much for your comments. I didn't want Sadie to appear too static, rather, ready to go at any minute. Still need to loosen up with my technique though - a problem i always get with commissions!

A gorgeous watercolour Catherine, she does look ready to go..........like a coiled spring!!!

Is she a Jack Russell? She has that "who dares, wins" look! Full of character - it's very hard to loosen up when you're working on a commission: you tighten up out of a desire to do your best - I do, anyway. But this isn't a "loose" sort of subject really, is it? This character is full of energy, and while, like all dogs, she can relax - she's alert and ready for anything: so maybe a touch of tightness in the painting was appropriate. In any case - we've all seen a lot tighter than this.

Hi Catherine i.ve just recently come back onto painters online and your portaits drew me in so i.ve looked through your portfolio and your portaits are amazing but this picture of Sadie in watercolour is amazing! My niche is animals but dogs in particular but i.m not in ur league! The expression on her face is great as it looks like u cud ruffle the fur about it looks so real. Well dome!

Thank you Eileen! Sadie was a cutie and very willing to cooperate ...for a while! Your comments are appreciated.

This is a detail from a recent doggy commission. Sadie had such gorgeous rich colouring - she contrasted nicely with the backdrop of a black Aga (a warm spot to sit in!)
