Carol...Trying to be helpful here...If your tree has shadow on its right hand side, would it liven up this work if your fenceposts and gate had shadowed areas on the right as well? It is contrast in tone which 'lifts' a painting and gives it effectiveness, and I think your paintings are lovely and worth working on, especially in achieving a wider more realistic area in tones. Just trying to be helpful, hope you don't mind, as I can see potential here, and you do love your natural subjects. Landscapes are not easy to paint, they need emphasis and contrast, and that is what you need to add.
