Ancient Greek Urn

Comments

That’s beautiful Carole. I love the way you’ve painted/pastelled the marks on the urn. Does one paint with pastels!?

It’s a beautiful object Carole, and so superbly drawn with great skill.

This is lovely Carole, the urn has a luminous quality about it.

Fabulous work on that urn Carole.

I love things like this too, Carole. This is exc. - love the dark behind the urn, adding atmosphere.

Lovely work Carole 😍

This ancient urn looks superb, the ornate pigment and surface really are formed with a brittle surface, and stands well upon the windowsill showing the rustic, dark depth beneath!

Thank you so much for all your positive comments which I find so motivating and encouraging. Never sure if it’s painting or drawing with pastels Tessa, as usually it’s a combination of both. Thank you Alan, (love your autumn work); Russell, Val, Marjorie, Linda, Angela and John. Love all of your work.

What great colours and textures you've captured here.

Really love this Carole, it glows, especially around the handles

Thank you so much for your generous comments Thalia and Heather.

Well done Carole. This is beautiful.

Wonderful use of pastel Carole, you’ve achieved that aged and mellow look.

Beautiful work Carole, love the colours.

Wonderful 3D effect and excellent tones.

Wow, Carole, that is some urn, and the light is amazing.

Only just seen this, it beautiful, colours are just so.........perfect. My grandchildren ask if I’m chalking when I use pastels!

This is stunning. I'm really loving your paintings.

Wow, fantastic, Carole.

Ooh I love this, a real sense of history. Great palette too.

Carole, this is stunning, the detail on that urn is mesmerising and your shadow work is so rich and juicy, a fabulous still life beauty !!

Just been viewing your gallery. Love so many. Particularly this one because I have a lot of old pottery and my daughter is a potter. I love the dark background and light window sill. Must get back to painting pots.

12” x 14” soft pastels and pastel pencils on Artfix pastel paper. Saw this urn on a window sill, several years ago while on holiday in Alonissos, one of the 3 islands in the Northern Sporades, Greece. Couldn’t resist painting this age, worn urn with all its markings.
