High Street, Wimborne
This is the other sketch I mentioned when I posted the line and wash of Wimborne. Same criteria apply, same vantage point and the same appeal; I love the rhythm of the building with the bow windows. An ordinary 2B pencil worn to a brick-sized stump on the nearest stone, enables the brick courses to be dashed in very quickly, over the faintest occasional H/2H guideline, to make sure the perspective doesn't go off-piste. Sash windows are rendered with relative care and made to recess using oblique cast shadow patterns and staggered arrangements of casements - the lower ones must be set back in relation to the upper when viewed from the side like this. I've used line to distinguish the perimeter boundaries of the cars but elsewhere, including throughout the "Information" office, shapes are delineated by drawing negative shapes rather than using boundary lines
