This pen & wash view of an antiques shop in Cawthorne near Barnsley was difficult because a succession of cars came and went on the road, both in front of the shop and immediately in front of me which I thought showed a lack of consideration but we're all different. The strongly directional lighting produced elongated shadows, colourful and colourless greens in the foliage, and a mellow reflected warmth in the brickwork of the building which I almost got. The fineliner enabled me to add elements like railings and legible signage to the shop facia without being clumsy. A unifying wash over the paraphernalia outside the shop, in the shade of the tree, would have helped. I wasn't thinking.
