Thank you everyone. My better half was very complementary too. He commented on the proportions of the motorbike when I was drawing out the initial outline (which took a whole afternoon before I even thought about applying any colour)! Phil and I are going to this year's Manx Grand Prix on August 20th, so Owen won't see the painting until then.

This pastel pencil drawing is a gift for a young motorcycle racer my husband and I sponsored at the Manx Grand Prix last year, based on a photograph by Darren Wilson. Pastel pencils on mid-grey Tiziano pastel paper, built up in 4 layers with fixative applied in between. I don't normally work at this level of detail!
