First thought Barry are that this is almost two paintings. I think maybe the heavy darks in the top half give me this effect against the softer foregound which I really like..

Last week I attended a workshop with Jake Winkle this was one of the subjects we painted, on the day I followed Jake’s instruction but thought I would use the source material and paint it using my own observation. Having already done it with Jake must have influenced my approach but I wanted to see what differences might occur.
