Cottage near Stoke by Nayland
After a morning painting and sketching at Stoke by Nayland I wanted to get some photographs of a water mill that is situated nearby. Having taken the photos I turned around and went back to my car only to see this before me, as I was parked in a rarther precarious position I quickly took a photo and returned to the studio at Dedham Hall where I was staying. I painted this picture from the photo but did use a bit of artistic licence as the tree on the right did partly obscure the end of the cottage and I felt this would improve the composition. It's painted on Arches 140lb not half imperial.
